King George Island is located at the northern part of the Antarctic Peninsula. This is one of the most remote places on Earth, therefore it is hard to reach. Many problems can occur because development has not jet reached the continent, no commodities can be found and the weather is highly unpredictable. A clear sky with perfect visibility is required in order to land there safely, that is way in many cases trips need to be postponed while waiting for adequate weather conditions.

No commodities or emergency units can be found on King George Island that is why, Dap Antartica suggest you make sure your clients are adequately covered for all eventualities, including medical evacuation.

DAP`s charter flights into Antarctica take three and a half hours. They cross first the Drake Passage, and then arrive to King George Island in the Antarctic Peninsula. Satellite information is checked before departure and during the flight.

DAP takes safety most seriously even at the risk of having to call off the program at a late stage. DAP will have the last word regarding this matter.

On board DAP’s flight, everybody is required to respect the authority of the captain and comply with his instructions. During the field trip, guides are delegated the same responsibility.


Cancellation and Changes to Itineraries

Each Antarctic Program signifies a lot of work on behalf of DAP`s personnel, everything has to be well coordinated, several phone calls have to be made, Antarctic permissions are required and other expenses are involved in each King George Program planning, that is why DAP`s Refund Policy must be strictly respected. DAP knows how disappointing it is for travelers in the event they are forced to cancel their trip, that is why DAP strongly advices all intermediaries to carefully read these terms and conditions and have their clients purchase a trip cancellation and interruption insurance as protection against an emergency which may force them to cancel or leave the program while it is in progress.

1. To make a reservation you must contact DAP`s sales agents at ventas@aeroviasdap.cl and gerencia@aeroviasdap.cl At the same time you should send a deposit of 25% of the Program’s cost by wire transfer from your bank to DAP`s account.

2. Once the deposit is paid, should you which to cancel at any time, there is a non refundable fee of 10% of the total value that will be taken from the initial deposit mentioned in the precedent article.

3. DAP reserves the right to cancel the program for any reason whatsoever, including logistical problems caused by any circumstances beyond DAP`s control which may make the trip inadvisable. In the event of cancellation by DAP, all money received with the sole exemption of the non refundable fee, will be promptly refunded. This refund will be the limit of DAP`s liability and DAP shall not be liable for any subsequent damage. DAP is not responsible for any expends incurred by the tourist, intermediaries, Cruises or tourist’s booking agents in preparing for the trip including airline tickets, housing, special clothes, food, visa, passport fees or other trip related expenses.

4. As bad weather conditions can prevent local flights from departing. DAP has developed different programs to offer to your clients in case the Antarctic program can not be performed at all. This programs include visits to Torres del Paine national park, over flight Cape Horn and others. Should you which to offer one of these programs to your clients, the cost of the selected program will be retained from the reimburse of the Antarctic Program.

DAP operations are highly dependant on weather conditions, changes to the itinerary may occur for which DAP accepts no responsibility, however caused and for whatever reason. DAP reserves the right to reschedule the programs without prior notification and no further obligation on our part. Such reschedule does not constitute cancellation by DAP.

Even if the program has to be postponed because of bad weather conditions, DAP will consider it a client’s cancellation every time the program could be performed later the same day without considerably affecting the cruise departure schedule in which case non refund is applicable.

Should a client be unable to accept any changes or modifications to the travel schedule and /or itinerary and decides to cancel, the following penalties will apply:

• Cancellations before 30 days prior to departure (both days included), the initial “Reservation Deposit” of 25% will be fully retained.
• Cancellation from day 29 thought 8 before departure (both days included), 50% of the total value will be retained.
• Cancellation one week or less before departure, 75% of the total cost will be retained
• When asking for the reservation, 25% of the program cost has to be paid.
• Reservations will be confirmed once this initial deposit has been made.
• 30 days prior to departure 100% of the program has to be paid.
• If payments are not received by the dates specified in the “Payment schedule”, DAP reserves the right to cancel your booking and withhold return of all payments received, unless a change in your payment schedule has been agreed by DAP
• If the program is canceled by DAP for whatever reason full payment will be reimbursed except for the non refundable fee.
• DAP considers a flight canceled because of bad weather conditions once there is not enough time to do the program without considerably altering the cruise’s departure schedule, in which case full payment will be reimbursed except for the non refundable fee.
• Our Company states clearly that flights are done under rules and regulations issued by the Dirección de Aeronáutica Civil de Chile, which strictly compiled with USA`s FAA high standards.


DAP`s Guides and aircraft pilots are the leaders during the programs. Your signature signifies your acceptance of the leaders authority to make decisions affecting the cruise’s group or individuals. The leader may require an individual to leave the group if he/she believes the person’s health is at risk if an illegal act is committed, or their behavior becomes detrimental to the safety, enjoyment or well being of the group. Should such a thing happen, this person, the intermediary, the cruise or any other organization would not be entitled to any refund whatsoever.

Please understand that there are known and unknown hazards involved in Antarctic trips, which tourists must accept voluntarily and at their own risk. DAP will not be responsible for any illness, injury or death sustained during the program. That is why DAP strongly encourages you to check with tourist’s insurance agent to make sure they are adequately covered for all eventualities, including medical evacuation.

DAP`s staff, crew and representatives, other than official Managers of DAP are not entitled to promise refunds and DAP will not be bound to such oral promises.

Substantial changes in the price of fuel, services and labor might increase the cost of the program, DAP reserves the rights to revise its prices.

This agreement and any dispute here under shall be governed in accordance with the laws of Chile.
